About Us

SUMS Consulting works for universities and is owned by universities. We are a specialist management consultancy that was established forty years ago by a small group of similar universities to provide a unique network for the free interchange of ideas and experience between participating universities. We continue to work exclusively in Higher Education as a membership organisation. The partnership with our Members is at the heart of all we do. We deliver outstanding service, great value and quality.

SUMS Consulting works across all areas of university administration and our key strength lies in being able to connect strategic planning to operations to ensure successful delivery.

Our consulting staff combine an understanding of HE, its unique business model and its challenges, with a depth of experience and expertise gained outside the sector. They are drawn from a variety of commercial, professional and industrial backgrounds and are able to develop and promote best practice solutions that are capable of implementation. Each Member has a consultant nominated to work closely with them known as the Key Contact (KC) who will develop the Member relationship to better understand Members' needs.

SUMS Consulting is a division of Southern Universities Management Services (SUMS). The Members of SUMS Consulting are also the member universities of SUMS. SUMS Management Committee elected by its Members is responsible for setting strategic direction and policies and overseeing the management of the organisation.
