Benchmarking
Benchmarking enables Members to learn from one another, to extend their visions and raise their expectations. Tightly focused benchmarking exercises are regularly undertaken to inform SUMS Consulting assignments. We also undertake larger scale, discrete benchmarking studies.
Benchmarking Process
Typically, studies adhere to the following process:
- A lead member is identified who has a strong interest in the benchmarking subject
- A steering team is created of other interested SUMS Members
- The steering team determine the objectives of the study and the data requirements
- SUMS Members and other institutions are invited to contribute
- Data is collected in an appropriate format and collated for analysis
- A report is prepared in consultation with the steering team
- The results of the benchmarking exercise are presented to the membership and others who participated.
SUMS Consulting has completed large scale benchmarking exercises on Students' Unions, Security and Accommodation over the past two years. Member representatives are asked to submit any requests for large scale benchmarking exercises through their Key Contacts.
