Teaching Space Management Healthcheck

Space is the second largest spend category after staff and although most universities have done work around timetabling not all have moved to realise fully the significant benefits and cost savings that can accrue from good timetabling.

As part of its Space Management and Timetabling consultancy service, SUMS Consulting offers a Teaching Space Management Healthcheck service to assist members to determine if there is still opportunity to better utilise their teaching estate.

The Healthcheck looks at:

  • Policy issues that could restrict teaching space use; for example how standardised are teaching hours
  • Benchmarks; your space use is benchmarked against best in class
  • Process issues such as how smoothly data flows from module choice to timetable construction
  • Enablers such as organisation, systems and the annual timeline for construction of the timetable.
